This small old cemetery is on County Road #3 (the River Road) just north of Arnprior, on the West side high above the train tracks which parallel the Ottawa River. It cannot be seen above the trees and bush and access is difficult on foot. Parking is beside the County Road and a very steep rutted hill leads to the cemetery. The land at the top is relatively flat except where it drops away suddenly at a steep gully on the north side. It is quite well cared for with much leveling of the ground being done the summer of 1993 and old stones straightened.
The cemetery is just out of Braeside overlooking the Ottawa River. The old clapboard church which stood on the lower level beside the road was razed c1982, having been erected in 1870 on land donated by the MacDonell family. St. Chrisostom cemetery on Malloch Road nearby, took over the burials when St. Alexander’s became full and was closed to further burials except for previously-owned lots.
