The Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church is half-way up a very steep hill in Schutt. At one time village, there was a post office, general in this store and a school. Today these are all closed.

The cemetery area is reasonably flat, sloping gently to the north. the Church is a modern building, replacing the original which burned down in 1977. The new church was rebuilt the same year on the same foundation.

The cemetery is 8 Kms. from Highway #515 and lO Kms. from Palmer Rapids. The grounds are very neat and well-kept by members of the congregation.

The church is served by the Pastor of the Calvary United Church in Palmer Rapids and the Zion Evangelical Church of Rosenthal. Services are held every Sunday.

Robert PACHAL (#42) was one of nine people who drowned with the sinking of the Mayflower on Lake Kamaniskeg on Nov. 12, 1912. John H. BROWN (#40) had died out west and his body along with 12 other passengers were being transported from Barry’s Bay to Combermere when the boat went down. Three people survived because the rough box floated and drifted to an island nearby where they were rescued.

The earliest stone here is dated 1899 but the cemetery is older.
