LYNDOCH BAPTIST CEMETERY
CONC. l4, LOT 9
LYNDOCH TWP. RENFREW CO.

Recorded, checked, researched and mapped September, 1990 by Geraldine Kuehl.
Typed by Dolly Allen, Nov. 1990

This is an old church and cemetery. The church has been remodeled on the outside and an addition added to the front.

The original church was a log building which was replaced by the current one in 1894. The original church was dismantled log by log and then reassembled by the farmer living to the south, where it has served 4 generations of this family and is still being used as a shed.

The 1881 Census returns lists a Rev. Antoney HELMRICK, a German Baptist minister living in the townships of Lyndoch and Brudenell. He probably was one of the first ministers for this church. The Baptist Association, to which this church was part, lists its beginning as 1894, but it started before that.

There are many unmarked graves in this cemetery, many being infants. It has been said by older, deceased generations that some graves exist at the front of the church, but today no one knows who the people are. This area was used before the back property was cleared. Today this cemetery is a very level area, gently sloping to the west. There are no trees or shrubs. It is a well-maintained cemetery.

This cemetery record contains a map with the location of the headstones shown. It also contains headstone inscriptions.
