MAP OF CEMETERY BY
OLGA LEWIS

The Springtown cemetery is located on a hill overlooking the Madawaska River and is quite possibly a protestant cemetery. The sign on the gate says “Springtown Cemetery 1866”. It is a small cemetery and is surrounded by bush and has been fenced off. It is not known if this cemetery is still in use. The stones in this cemetery for the most part are very old. The cemetery is full, and while the logging was going on in the 1880’s some men who were drowned, are buried in the cemetery.

The names of the families who are buried in the cemetery are as follows:
ANDERSON, BRYDGES, DENNISTON, GEMMILL, HALLIDAY, JACK (baby), LARONDE, MOONEY, MOORE, MCCREA, MCDONALD, MCFARLANE, MCKEWER, MCRAE, ROBERTSON, STRINGER, WIGNEY, WILSON. The earliest known burials were in the year 1866. The land for the cemetery was donated by the Moore Family.

This cemetery record contains a map with the location of the headstones shown. It also contains headstone inscriptions.
