ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CEMETERY (OLD)
This cemetery is on the Opeongo Road between Dacre and Foymount. It is called the “Upper Cemetery” as further down the mountain, 2 Kms. is the “Lower” or New cemetery. Only the older cemetery has a church on the property, where services are held about 3 or 4 times yearly, as well as funerals or weddings. This older cemetery is now full and burials are in the “Lower” cemetery. It is well-maintained by former members of the Church who alternate the grass
mowing.

ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CEMETERY (NEW)
This “new” cemetery is 2 Km. East of the Church and “old” cemetery, on the Opeongo Road. The ground slopes from the back to the front of the cemetery, as it is on the downside of the mountain, the soil is very sandy; therefore grass is sparse, treeless and rather barren. However, it is well maintained with a large, black wrought-iron sign inside the fence.

Because of the number of identical oblong, flat cement markers placed between headstones, with no identification, it is thought they are stones denoting infant graves.
