In 1878 John Wodtke donated land for a church and cemetery. (This cemetery was across the road from the church. There are no markers of any kind. It is an unmarked area now and forms the front lawn of the original German school which has become a home for the Pudewell family – from Mrs. Eleanor Mueller, 27 Aug 1990).
On July 25, 1892 Edward Popkie donated the land for the present cemetery which is on the Sand road. (from Zion Augsburg history, 11Oth Anniversary, 1874-1984)

This small cemetery is on a quiet side road just past Strickland’s General store, on Highway #41. In Eganville, turn left at the traffic light in mid-town, onto Highway #41 to the St. James Cemetery at the top of the hill, turn right and after passing Strickland’s store on your left, continue straight where the road veers left. The cemetery is about 7 km down the road. It is well tended with a large annual flower bed in the centre and a large maple tree beside the gate. The caretaker is Mr. Gary Risto.
